Summer Classic Junior Achievement Challenge


will be held on Friday evening, July 1, 2011

at the Oklahoma City Summer Classic Dog Shows

in the Cox Convention Center.

30 minutes after Best in Show

Rules and Procedures

Each junior will be judged on their ability and skill in presenting their dog as it should be presented in the breed ring.  The quality of the dog will not be considered.  Each junior will be judged on the following:

  • Proper Breed Presentation
  • Skill in the individual dog's presentation
  • Knowledge of ring procedures
  • Appearance and conduct

 

Three rings will be run simultaneously with the breakdown as follows:  Novice Junior, Open Junior, Novice Intermediate, Open Intermediate, Novice Senior, Open Senior.

 

Each ring will have three judges.  Judges will be chosen from former junior handlers, professional handlers, and/or AKC licensed junior judges.  Each judge will receive an evaluation sheet for each competitor that will be tallied by a score keeper.  The four finalists from each class will compete for Best Junior.  Best Junior will be judged by three judges.

 

Best Junior will be awarded:

  • $5,000 scholarship, which will be held until the Junior has been accepted into a program or institute of higher learning.
  • Two free hotel nights for the 2012 Summer Classic Dog Shows
  • Free 8 x 10 grooming space for the 2012 Summer Classic Dog Shows


1st Runner Up will be awarded:

  • $2,500 scholarship, which will be held until the Junior has been accepted into a program or institute of higher learning.


2nd Runner Up will be awarded:

  • $1,500 scholarship, which will be held until the Junior has been accepted into a program or institute of higher learning.


3rd Runner Up will be awarded:

  • $1,000 scholarship, which will be held until the Junior has been accepted into a program or institute of higher learning.

The 24 finalists will receive a Rosette Finalist ribbon and a 2011 Summer Classic Finalist T-Shirt.  All other participants will receive a coupon for a 2011 Summer Class T-Shirt.  All participants will also receive a gift bag for attending.
